Everyone has those WhatsApp friends who send at least three videos, two GIFs and ten pictures a day. This is not only annoying but also costs valuable memory space. For this reason, a new option is coming soon for Android users: the ability to clear their WhatsApp memory.

WhatsApp groups are handy. There is no doubt about that. They make it possible to arrange get-togethers with friends and decide who is bringing what to the party over the weekend without all the phone calls and hassle.

However, WhatsApp groups can be not only useful, but also annoying. The risk of sending images and video files indiscriminately and blocking up the storage space of your smartphone has rarely been greater. Sure, there are even people who who prefer to communicate via pictures rather than messages in one-on-one chats.

Now in beta version for Android: Clear WhatsApp memory

Users of devices with an iOS or Windows operating system have been able to clear their memory of received WhatsApp files for some time. Android users will soon get the function. They can also delete the WhatsApp memory.

In the current beta version numbered 2.17.285, the WhatsApp blogger WABetaInfo has discovered a corresponding function. This is intended to help WhatsApp users with Android operating system also have uncomplicated access to chat details.

First, WhatsApp presents you an overview. Here you can see how many text messages, photos, videos and voice messages you have sent. With an editing function, you can now select in detail which of the files you want to delete and which you want to keep.

As a rule, it may take several weeks or even months before a function leaves the beta stage. Since the current option has been tested on other operating systems for a long time, there is no reason for a large delay.
