Biocharger: This generator is designed to charge electric cars with wood waste

The US company Air Burners recently presented a generator that can charge electric vehicles with wood waste. The so-called biocharger is primarily intended for use on construction sites.

Electromobility is seen as an effective means of sustainably reducing emissions. However, the necessary charging infrastructure for electric vehicles is still lacking in many places – especially in rural regions. The US company Air Burners now claims to have developed an alternative solution to this problem.

It is a type of generator that is designed to produce electricity from wood waste in order to charge electric vehicles. However, according to Air Burners, it is also possible to power other devices off the electricity grid. The company has also developed devices that measure and reduce pollutant particles during combustion.

Biocharger from Air Burners burns wood with low emissions

For its biocharger, Air Burners uses an “air curtain” to capture smoke particles and burn them again, significantly reducing their size. The result: a relatively clean burn that is well below the limits set by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The air curtain acts like a lid that covers the opening. If smoke particles rise, it traps them and burns them off until hardly any smoke or other emissions remain.

Its use in burning wood waste appears to be not only more environmentally friendly, but also more efficient than traditional methods. This is because instead of shredding and transporting wood waste, the Biocharger enables it to be burned quickly and locally. This saves Air Burners money and ideally protects the environment at the same time.

Power generation can also be important for charging stations

The technology has the potential to generate renewable energy that car owners can use to charge electric vehicles. By converting wood waste into energy, the biocharger is also expected to be a sustainable and cost-effective energy source for charging stations.

The system could also secure the power supply in rural or remote areas. With the Biocharger, Air Burners is demonstrating the extent to which waste can be used sustainably instead of simply being disposed of in an incineration plant.
