The Instagram app recently added a hidden game called Emoji Pong. We explain how you can find and play the mini-game.

Instagram is primarily a platform for photos and short videos. But recently, a new feature appeared that doesn’t really fit the network at all. It’s a hidden mini-game called Emoji Pong, which is supposed to offer a new form of entertainment within the app.

The game is based on the classic video game Pong and offers users a new way to pass the time within the Instagram app. To start the game, you first need to open the app on your smartphone and navigate to the direct messages using the arrow symbol.

Emoji Pong: How to play the mini-game on Instagram

There you send a message that consists of just one emoji. This is completely freely selectable and serves as the game ball in Emoji Pong. Once you have sent the emoji, you can tap on it and the game opens. The main aim is to control the bar at the bottom of the screen so that the emoji never disappears from the playing area.

Each time the emoji touches the bar, the game speeds up and the background color changes. A high score display continuously shows your current rating. However, it is still unclear whether there is a maximum score that counts as winning the game.

Users are advised to update the app

The integration of a mini-game in Instagram is presumably aimed at keeping users in the app for longer. At the same time, the game offers an enjoyable way to pass the time, for example when waiting for replies to direct messages. However, it is not entirely clear with which version Instagram introduced the function.

Some users report that they do not yet have access to the game. If this problem persists, it is advisable to check whether the app is up to date. If the game is still not available after an update, the only option is to wait for a future update of the app.
